Add Watermark to PDF

Apply a repeating text or image watermark across the pages of a PDF - DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, a company mark, or anything else. You control the rotation, the opacity and how densely the mark is tiled across the page. A watermark makes the status of a document obvious on every printed copy without touching the content underneath.

How to watermark a PDF

  1. Upload the PDF you want to watermark.
  2. Choose a text watermark and type the words, or upload an image to use instead.
  3. Set the rotation, opacity, size and spacing.
  4. Apply and download the watermarked PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can the watermark be removed by someone else?

Treat it as a visual marking, not a security control. It is drawn into the page content and takes effort to strip, but it is not encryption. If the document itself must be restricted, use Password Protect PDF.

The watermark hides the text underneath.

Lower the opacity. Something in the region of ten to twenty per cent usually stays clearly visible while leaving the document readable.

Can I watermark only some pages?

The watermark is applied across the document. To mark a single page, use Add Stamp, which places a mark on the pages you choose.

Why is my image watermark showing a white box?

The image has no transparency - a JPEG cannot carry any. Use a PNG with a transparent background instead.
